Position Summary: Albertus Magnus College seeks a visionary and collaborative faculty leader to serve as the Inaugural Director of the Carol G. Ditkoff '67 Immersive Learning Collaboratory. Opening at the start of the 2026-27 academic year, this position represents a momentous opportunity to bridge administrative leadership with bold pedagogical innovation. As the first institution in New England to implement Dreamscape Learn (DSL), Albertus Magnus College is positioning itself at the forefront of the haptic immersive learning movement, and the Director will be the primary architect of this transformation.
The Director provides strategic leadership and administrative oversight for the Ditkoff Collaboratory, including the supervision of the support staff to ensure the facility's seamless integration into campus life. Beyond mere management, the Director will shepherd the Collaboratory from its initial implementation to its full realization as a hub for student success. This role requires an inspiring advocate who can encourage faculty adoption across all disciplines, helping colleagues translate cutting-edge technology into meaningful classroom experiences.
As the Center's chief ambassador to both internal and external audiences, the Director will connect the dots between the future of immersive technology and the enduring values of the College's Dominican mission and liberal arts traditions. The successful candidate will ensure the Collaboratory is not just a high-tech facility, but a catalyst for creativity and inclusive excellence.
This is a 12-month administrative faculty position with a rotating three-year appointment. To accommodate the intensive demands of the facility's launch, the teaching load is structured as follows: 0-0 for the inaugural year, 1-2 for the second year, and 2-2 thereafter. Any teaching load exceeding these requirements must be approved by the VPAA prior to scheduling.
Qualifications Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Strategic Leadership & Directorship
- Provide administrative oversight for the Ditkoff Collaboratory's daily operations, budget, and long-term scaling, including supervision of the support staff.
- Develop a strategic roadmap that aligns DSL initiatives with the College's mission and strategic goals.
- Supervise staff, student workers, and/or graduate assistants assigned to the facility.
2. Faculty Engagement & Curriculum Implementation
- Curriculum Integration: Partner with faculty to identify and implement immersive Dreamscape Learn modules within existing and new courses.
- Professional Development: Host workshops and one-on-one consultations to build faculty confidence in using haptic virtual reality (VR) and high-immersion pedagogy.
- Assessment: Establish metrics to evaluate the impact of the DSL curriculum on student engagement, retention, and learning outcomes.
3. Public Advocacy & External Relations
- Represent the College within the Dreamscape Learn network.
- Collaborate with the Marketing and Communications team to showcase faculty achievements, student work and technological breakthroughs.
Qualifications and Education:
- Education: Master's degree required (Doctorate or terminal degree preferred) in a relevant field (e.g., Instructional Design, STEM, Computer Sciences, Digital Media, Communications or Education).
- Experience:
- Minimum of 3-5 years in higher education, ideally with experience in faculty leadership or center management.
- Proven track record of implementing educational technology or innovative curricula.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
- Exceptional communication skills; ability to translate complex technology into simple terms for diverse audiences.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to inspire buy-in from faculty peers.
- A passion for student success through modern, inclusive pedagogy.
Work Schedule Requirements:
This is an in-person position, with some evenings and weekends.
Benefits:
Full-time employees are eligible for comprehensive medical, dental, and vision coverage. They accrue between 18 and 23 days of paid time off annually. After 90 days of employment, tuition remission is available, with the college covering 100% of tuition costs (employees are responsible for books and technology fees). The college values work-life balance, offering a summer schedule from June through August. Employees also enjoy 14 paid holidays, including a winter break. Retirement plan participation is available from your first day, with employer contributions beginning after one year of service, based on your length of employment.
